QUALLS TO LEAD THE VETERANS SERVICE ORGANIZATION

Thanks to a remarkable group of talented and dedicated people and the excellent support of the Harrison-Boone County community, the Jack Williams Veterans Resource Center – Camp Jack – provides essential services for thousands of local veterans and their families. Entering its fifth year, Camp Jack continues to grow and adapt to serve veterans and its community most effectively.

Matt Russell, one of the founders of Camp Jack and its first organizational President, is stepping down, as he said, “to let someone from the next generation take over as Executive Director of Camp Jack. Now is the time to hear from new voices and gather new ideas on how best to continue the important mission of serving veterans.”

The Board of Directors has hired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant (retired) Tom Qualls to lead the organization forward. Tom has been a committed volunteer and served as the Operations Director of Camp Jack for over three years.

Bob Largent, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said, “We thank Matt for his vision and dedicated service to the community. He is recognized as the organization’s ‘founding father’ and will be remembered for his passion for serving veterans. At the same time, we are extremely pleased to have Tom as the new Executive Director. His years of service and leadership will help move Camp Jack into the future with expanded services and staff.”

Qualls said, “I’m humbled to have the opportunity to help lead Camp Jack, serving alongside the many dedicated volunteers that make the organization work. We have exciting times to look forward to serving the needs of veterans and their families in the North Arkansas region.”

Working with the City of Harrison, Camp Jack acquired the Harrison Public School’s old lunchroom, the original Arkansas National Guard Armory, built in 1942. Quickly realizing the need for a modern facility to provide veterans services, Camp Jack reached out to Arkansas Third District Congressman Steve Womack, who spearheaded Federal funding to renovate the building, keeping the original building’s historic exterior. The ‘re-grand’ opening for the facility was held on August 14, 2025.

The Jack Williams Veterans Resource Center, affectionately known as Camp Jack, is proud to be in its newly renovated facility at 411 S. Pine Street, Harrison. For more details, visit www.campjack.org or call 870-517-5044.
