Mayor Jerry Jackson had the honor of addressing the newest Boone County Youth Leadership Class of XXIX. This year’s class is sponsored by FedEx Freight and hosted by the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce.
A group of juniors chosen from Boone County High Schools will meet once a month to learn more about the community, meet local leaders, and develop their own unique leadership skills.
Mayor Jackson was asked to speak about leadership. He emphasized the importance of being respected rather than liked. Even though everyone wants to be liked. He praised the City’s Department Heads as experts in their field and said he feels confident when asking for their opinions or assistance.

What a weekend Harrison enjoyed! If you see some tired residents today, there's a good reason.
* 9/11 Ceremony and Civic Clubs prepared lunch for First Responders
*Kiwanis Kid Zone opened, new park, splash pad
* Basketball Tournament at Creekside
* 31st Annual Arkansas Hot Air Balloon Race (all weekend)
* Family Fun Day Saturday afternoon
And probably more ....
But all of these events take volunteers! There is a Volunteer Expo on Wednesday, where you can learn about great organizations that need YOUR help.
