Record number of guests expected this weekend
April 12-13, 2025
Mayor Jerry Jackson said, “We’ve been looking forward to this weekend for a long time. This is our opportunity to showcase our area and the Creekside Community Center to more than 4,000 people simultaneously. We have terrific facilities, and hosting multiple tournaments on the same dates is a dream come true, which will be a big boost to our local economy.”
Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Eddington said, “We are very excited about the two major events scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. There are a total of 166 confirmed teams coming, and the weather is looking great for the weekend. This should fill up our hotels and restaurants and benefit the community.”
BeElite Basketball
Eddington said. “The public is invited to come to one of the ten gym locations in the city for Basketball grades 3 through 12, boys and girls. The games will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at Creekside Courts, Harrison High School, North Arkansas College Pioneer Pavilion, or the Burlsworth Youth Center. The cost to watch is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and children per day at the gate.” The basketball tournament is part of BeElite Sports with 125 confirmed teams. Creekside staff members Kevin Lowry (left) and Jackson Ritchey put the new pool patio furniture together in anticipation of the Dive-In Movie on Friday night, April 11, at 5:30. Concessions will be available to be eaten on the patio. Lawn chairs or bleacher seating will be available for those not watching the movie from the pool. The movie is "Finding Nemo."

Thank you, Friends of the Library, for your donation of 100 books to the Creekside Playroom so that young children can have access to books. Ginger Schoenenberger, Library Director, said Mayor Jackson had asked her about books for the area, and she asked for the assistance of the Friends of the Library. Penny DeJournett and her husband, John, took the task seriously. John built a beautiful bookshelf with rounded corners to be safe for the children. When the ladies walked in, the shelf was a mess, but they were excited because that meant children were looking at the books. They are free to take home if needed and can be returned or kept. The Friends of the Library will restock, and straighten once a month. There are Board Books, Easy Reading and Picture books for young readers. Thank you so much for what you do for our community!
