Just a reminder that LRS is unable to run their trash and recycling routes today, Wed. Feb. 19. For the safety of our employees and the communities we serve, we have made the decision to discontinue routes effective Wednesday, February 19, 2025, due to adverse weather conditions, landfill closures, and road safety concerns. As temperatures are forecasted to stay below freezing in the coming days, we will be monitoring road conditions closely and will provide regular updates regarding the safe resumption of our routes. If the roads remain unsafe for collection for more than one day, then we will pick up two weeks of trash and recycle next week on your normal collection day. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. As a reminder, please ensure commercial containers and enclosures are clear of snow debris when routes resume to allow safe access to containers. (File Photo)

LRS Truck and Snow
From the City of Harrison's Public Works:: All roads and highways are currently snow-covered and slick. Temperatures are too low for road salt to be very effective but crews will continue to work main roads and work toward side roads as soon as they can. People are encouraged to stay home unless they absolutely have to get out.

Roads Update
Street Department Winter Weather & Public Safety Reminders: Public Works has four dump trucks with salt spreaders and plows, five pickup trucks with salt spreaders and/or plows, in addition to backhoes, loaders and a motor grader. Equipment will be designated for higher volume streets before clearing lower volume and neighborhood streets. Crews will be working on 12-hour rotating shifts, day and night, as necessary. Avoid Parking on the Street. We recommend no parking on the roadway during snow & ice events. Vehicles parked on the street may prevent access for roadway treatment and snow removal. Don’t crowd the Plow. Please stay at least six car lengths back and away from any snow plows. Snow plows will push snow to the right side of the truck. This will cause snow rows at driveways on both sides of the street. While we realize that can be frustrating to some people, it is an unfortunate side-effect to plowing snow off streets. We do not have the equipment or personnel to clear private driveways or plow rows next to driveways. Temperatures following the upcoming snow event are expected to stay below 20-degrees until at least Friday and aren’t projected to be above freezing until Saturday. These very low temperatures will reduce the effectiveness of road salt. Please be patient with the crews. When roads are snow/ice-covered, please stay home unless driving is absolutely necessary.
