Creekside

The Advisory Committee for Harrison Parks and Recreation met on Tuesday, April 1, at City Hall for its monthly meeting.

The committee asked for a financial report on Creekside. Although it has only been open for five months, some interesting numbers are visible. As of Monday, March 31, there are more than 3,800 members.

“Since the inception of Creekside, it has always been Mayor Jackson’s desire to make this a true community center for all citizens,” Parks Executive Director Chuck Eddington said.

When the various discounts were added up, the total was almost $100,000.

The breakdowns include discounts or free memberships for foster families, veterans with 100% disabilities, military discounts, seniors, and low-income families.

The Silver Sneakers program reimburses the city for 492 members when they come to Creekside.

Currently, the low-income applications totaled $41,055.40.

Day passes have been a considerable success for Creekside. To date, 2,624 have been sold, bringing in $20,992.00 (Originally, day passes were for the “dry” part of Creekside and only $5. When the committee added aquatics to the day pass, the price was currently $8 a day.)

During Spring Break, 539-day passes were sold, bringing in an additional $4,312.00. The most significant number of day passes during spring break came from Green Forest, at 103. Yellville had 83, and Jasper had 72. Twenty-seven were sold to Branson residents. Other states represented were Texas, Florida, and other cities in Missouri.
