Field Day Poison Hemlock

Poison HemlockThe Harrison City Council met on Thursday, May 22, and heard an update about poison hemlock.

COO Wade Phillips said, “We’ve done some spray applications on city property where we had some poison hemlock issues. We will continue that. Long-term, we will work with the District to reestablish vegetation in those areas and focus on pollinator-type species.”

Phillips said, “Lisa Widner from the Boone County Conservation District was planning to attend, but something came up. A flier with information was presented to the council, and an invitation for the public to attend a field day at Mini Harris Park was sent out. We are focusing on our city property. So this will be a great event for the public, so they can let the public know what to do on private property.”

On June 13, the Conservation District will host a field day at Mini Harris Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to educate the public about what to do with poison hemlock. Lunch will be provided while supplies last.

Mitch Magness said, “I heard on the news that poison hemlock has now spread to every state.”
