At the Harrison City Council meeting Thursday night, June 12, Mayor Jerry Jackson presented Nita Gould and Robin Anderson with certificates of appreciation. Boy Scout Kyle Whiteside could not attend, but will receive a certificate for his work painting the metal arch entrance to Rose Hill Cemetery.
Councilman Larry Phillips, chairman of the Perpetual Care Cemetery Committee, thanked the ladies for all of their hard work.
“We have two ladies who saw the need and took responsibility for doing the work. It was a long process. They graciously spent the time and effort to get that done for our city. It is refreshing to see citizens who see a need or something that would better the community and are willing to do that deed,” Phillips said.
Mayor Jerry Jackson presented the certificates and said, “This certificate is given in recognition of your outstanding and invaluable contribution to the successful placement of Rose Hill Cemetery on the National Register of Historic Places. Your passion for preservation ensures that the legacy of those buried there are honored and remembered for future generations.”
