ProValus

At the Harrison City Council meeting on Thursday, Aug. 28, CFO Luke Feighert updated the council on sales tax and ProValus.

“The good news is that we are still in the top ten in sales tax revenue. This is a big deal for our area. Unfortunately, we can take it for granted. But a strong, steady growth over the years helps our local economy,” Feighert said. “So we thank our citizens who help support our local economy.”

“For an update on ProValus, we have created a draft economic development agreement and a lease agreement. We have an offer on a potential piece of property pending council approval. We’ve blessed it and met with our attorney. We presented it as a draft to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC), and they have since forwarded it to ProValus. They will look at it, and eventually, we will come to you for the final blessing. We’ve done all the legwork we can do. We borrowed with pride from other cities working with ProValus agreements. The Chamber’s President and CEO, Jeff Nielsen, is visiting the first ProValus plant in Brewton, Alabama. He’s had some very good things to say. Good news on that front. We are excited and hope to get that done quickly.”
