“This is my 26th consecutive week to swim at Creekside Aquatics,” Ken McCauley said. “I was skeptical when the Mayor spoke about the benefits of the pool, but I’m a believer now.”
Ken said he had been having a problem with his left knee and right hip. “But now, I am pain-free.”
He also appreciates the pool opening at 6 a.m. He has time to get his workout in and still make it to work by 8 a.m. “I swim four days a week and 1,000 meters a day. My wife and I decided to get a one-month membership to see if we liked it. After a month, I wanted to continue swimming and track my progress, so I picked up a Garmin swim watch. We are totally sold on the benefits of the pool now. Since I've started swimming, I've lost a little weight, gained some strength and more energy during the day, slept better at night, and have had no pain in the knee or hip. "Moving pain-free and feeling better is definitely worth it!”
He was initially concerned about swimming laps with children in the pool playing “Marco Polo.” “But that’s not a problem because they are either still sleeping or getting ready for school,” he laughed.
Ken loves that he’s in the pool swimming and isn’t bothered by texts, emails, or phone calls. When I first started, I barely reached the pool's far end. Had to catch my breath before I could go back. I’ve improved a lot now.”
What would I say to someone who is considering becoming a member? “Try it for a month; if it’s not for you, at least you’ve tried it". Get off the couch. Meet new people. Getting healthy is not a waste of time or money. And a Creekside membership is very affordable.
