Thursday evening, Nov. 6, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., the community is invited to a “Historic Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony” on the Courthouse lawn.
Bring your lawn chair, purchase some hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies from one of the downtown businesses, and enjoy a great experience with your family and friends.
Special music will be provided by the Northside Church of Christ Youth and the Hillcrest Choir at the Bandstand.
Mayor Jerry Jackson will flip the “Hallmark-like” giant switch and light up the new eight-foot Norway Spruce Tree planted on the square's northwest corner. The tree should grow between 18 and 24 inches a year. The Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce will do a ribbon-cutting for the new tree.
Explore Harrison is selling Keepsake Christmas ornaments for $20 as a fundraiser for the new tree purchased by the Historic Harrison Business Association (HHBA). One side features an image of the Historic Courthouse with the year 2025. The other side can be engraved with a message or family name for no additional cost. Call Explore Harrison at 870-741-1789 to preorder or go to the website. Businesses or individuals can have their name or logo on the ornament, which will be placed on the tree for the 2025 season as a sponsor for $100.
A fundraiser for Main Street Harrison will be held on a first-come, first-served basis in the alley, decorated for Christmas with an iconic truck between the Lyric Theater and the Harrison Daily Times. Photographer Beth Crenshaw will take mini photo sessions for $75, and digital photos will be provided for Christmas cards or gifts.
Don’t miss out on this historic Christmas Tree Lighting to kick off Holiday Open House on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. and help Downtown Harrison kick off the Holiday Open House season!
