Downtown Rising Update
More than 125 people attended the Monday afternoon meeting for Downtown Rising: Opportunity Summit which the City hosted.
Mayor Jackson updated the community about the downtown revitalization activities to date. Then a panel of speakers presented information about planning and zoning, flood plain regulations and the historic district.
Jeff Nielsen gave information about Provalus and showed a map of the 151 parking places identified by the city within a two block radius which was approved by Provalus. “They do not want their staff parking on the square taking up places customers would use.”
Wade Phillips addressed the planning and zoning, flood plain, and historic district issues of the downtown area and presented slides which showed the areas on a map.
Pat Brown and Marc Lowery spoke about the International Existing Building Code. Lowery said he has to answer a lot of questions with “It depends. But please talk to us about your issues and questions. There isn’t a “one answer fits all” situation."
The topic of historic tax credits was covered in a video from Gabe Holmstrom and Steve Gardner of Little Rock.
Each presentation is available on the City’s website or by using the QR code.
There are future meetings planned for those citizens, who need more in-depth information on specific topics. Watch the city's social media pages or calender for dates in 2026.
