Chief Chris Graddy presented a Citizen Award to Kayla Warren for going above and beyond her civic duties at the City Council meeting on Thursday night, Nov. 20.
Sergeant Raymond Peter presented the idea to Chief Graddy and Fire Chief Marc Lowery, and they all agreed. “This selfless action by a citizen needed to be recognized. We always jump at the chance to reward someone who goes above and beyond with kind behavior,” Graddy said.
The Citizen Award stated, “This is to recognize Kayla Warren for going above and beyond her civic duties. On October 4, 2005, at approximately 12:39 a.m. she assisted officers and the family by calling in an accident and assisting the family (with three minors in car seats) out of a vehicle which was resting on a six-foot drop. She assisted officers investigating the accident by tending to the needs of the three minors. She and her husband took the three minors into her care, providing shelter, food, and care for over an hour until their grandparents could arrive.”
