Harrison150 Essay Winner
Cayman Jones, a senior at Harrison School was chosen to receive a $1,000 scholarship as part of the Harrison150 Essay Contest.
A spokesperson for the scholarship committee said, “We presented the opportunity to all the Boone County High Schools through the counselors and were very impressed to read some very good, and well researched essays. It was encouraging to see the participation and the quality of the submissions. This made the task of choosing one winner very difficult.”
Jones will be presented with a check for $1,000 at the Harrison150 Kick-Off Celebration beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1 at the Historic Harrison Courthouse Bandstand.
Jones said, “My goal is to pursue a career in the medical field while remaining financially responsible and committed to serving my community. I plan to graduate from college debt-free, allowing me to focus fully on my profession without the burden of financial strain. I will begin by earning my Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology from North Arkansas College, where I will build a strong foundation in patient care and diagnostic imaging. I then intend to continue my education at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Imaging, expanding my skills and knowledge in advanced imaging techniques. After my education I plan to return to Harrison and work in the medical field.”
The Harrison150 Committee is very grateful for the anonymous donors who supplied the funding for the scholarship.
