All of the above names are 30 days past due and have been served papers. If they don’t pay within 10 days, the City’s CRR team starts the water disconnect process.
Big Daddy’s and Central/Shipley Donuts are now in excess of 90 days delinquent. The City of Harrison CRR team has served these businesses with notices in accordance with City of Harrison Ordinance 1452. If they don’t pay within 10 days, the City’s CRR team starts the water disconnect process.
CATPC Chairman Robin Reeves said, “We really don’t want to shut off the water of any business. We want their business to be successful. But these businesses have been given payment plans and every opportunity to become current with their payments and late fees.”
In other business. Renee Swanson reported the 31st Annual Arkansas State Hot Air Balloon Championship is on schedule with 30 pilots and 22 vendors. She is looking for volunteers and more non-food vendors for the event, which is Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11 and 12. There is one more early morning race on Sunday, Sept. 13, but it doesn’t require vendors.
Hotel and motel collections were up 3.61% in June. Restaurants were down 10%. Explore Harrison Executive Director Matt Bell said, “This is the largest drop I’ve ever seen for our restaurants. This is basically impacted by our locals. But I expect us to recoup completely in the fall. So we will ride the wave and not go into panic mode.”
The other commission members said if Bell could do something about gas and oil prices, that would help our restaurants tremendously.
Collectively, collections were down 1.63%.
Bell also said he was pleased with the Hannah Harper concert. “Bryan Wheeler with the Fire Department was watching the weather and gave us enough warning that we shut down the concert and guests had time to get inside Creekside or their cars before the rain hit. We waited out the rain and lightning and continued with the concert about two hours later. I appreciate all the staff and volunteers who stayed to help the bands, lighting, and sound get loaded up. In spite of the delay, it was a successful evening,” he said.
Bell was also very excited about the social media campaign. The Explore Harrison page had 221,000 views in the last 30 days. Non-followers accounted for two-thirds of the interactions. He was excited about the new people following the local events. The Hannah Harper post reached 73,000 views.
The next meeting is Thursday, Sept. 24 at 8:30 a.m. in the Arvest Bank Board Room at Explore Harrison.
