Rose Hill Clean-up Day set

May 16, 2026

Volunteers are needed for a Rose Hill Cemetery Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 16.  The Perpetual Care Cemetery Board is asking for volunteers to arrive anytime after 9 a.m. with their work clothes. Members of the Twentieth Century Club, the DAR, and the City will be pitching in.

If possible, try to park on the back side of the cemetery, using the parking area at the old Senior Center at 803 E Rush. We need volunteers to bring tools such as weedeaters, snippers, rakes, and more. Don't forget your gloves, hats, sunglasses, and possibly a lawn chair for taking a break. It is suggested everyone planning to stay for an extended period bring a sack lunch, snack, and plenty of drinking water.

Hope to see everyone in their work clothes ready to work.

Here’s an old photo of Hudson’s Grocery Store that is at the Boone County Historical Museum. Be sure to tag the city, so we see it too! We love sharing good news about our community! Happy 150th Birthday Harrison! We begin our celebration Friday at 4 p.m.

No matter what the package states, Wipes are not Flushable and are very bad for the City's sewer system. We all want this part of government to work properly. Correct?

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting Americans to pray for the nation. Although formally established by Congress in 1952 and set to its current date in 1988 by President Reagan, it stems from a long tradition of days of fasting and prayer, beginning with the Continental Congress in 1775.

There's been an increase of "wipes" in the sewer system recently. In spite of what the packaging states, they are not safe for flushing. Please help protect our pipes!
