"I am a softball official and come to Harrison to call a few times per year. I just want to say how impressed I am with all the hard working guys at Equity park. The fields are always great, the accommodations are awesome and we truly appreciate all of the hard work everyone puts in. Harrison is by far my most favorite places to call and I wish I could come more. Thanks again!!!"

The Harrison Historic Business Association will meet Monday at 8 a.m. in a back conference room of Signature Bank. On Tuesday, June 9, Downtown Strategies met with the Main Street Board of Directors to share what had been done in the past 2.5 years and offer their assistance as Main Street takes a more active role in HHBA and Downtown activities. Main Street Board Chairman, Eddie Bartlett, HHBA Chairman Mike Nabors and Mayor Jerry Jackson spoke to the group of Downtown Strategies Committee members and Main Street Board of Directors.
Flag Day observed at City Hall
The American Legion Post 44 will conduct a flag-lowering ceremony at City Hall on Saturday, June 13, at 5 p.m. and a flag-raising ceremony at 7:30 a.m. June 14. 2026.
The 2nd Continental Congress met in Philadelphia on June 14, 1777, to create the Continental Army (The U.S. Army's official "birthdate") and to create our first official "American Flag" by passing the flag resolution on June 14, 1777. The flag resolution states, "... the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white," and that the union is 13 stars, white on a blue field, representing a new constellation." In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson marked the anniversary of that resolution by officially establishing June 14 as Flag Day.
The Harrison City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in council chambers at City Hall, 118 Industrial Park Road. The meeting is open to the public. Music on the Square this Friday night, June 12 from 6-8 p.m.
The Downtown Strategies Committee, chaired by Mike Nabors held a special 90-minute meeting with the Main Street Board of Directors, chaired by Eddie Bartlett. Downtown Strategies has been working for 2.5 years and was ready to share the accomplishments and future goals and projects with Main Street. Mayor Jackson thanked the individuals for their service and love of this community. The Historic Harrison Business Association will be Monday, June 15, at 8 a.m. in a back conference room at Signature Bank. All business owners and managers are welcome. Important updates and new businesses to downtown will be shared.
The Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting today with Beans & Whiskers. The business opened in Sept. 2025 and offers coffee, snacks, and an additional area to sit and play with cats. They partner with the Humane Socity and several cats have already been adopted into good homes in the community. They are located at the corner of Goblin Drive and Capps Road.
What's happening at Creekside Community Center this morning? A little basketball, a little swimming, games, photo opps, golf simulator, computer games and chair aerobics! Special rates available for the summer. Don't miss a day of fun!
Mayor Jackson would like to thank the City of Harrison 150 Committee for putting on a fabulous gala last Saturday night. The evening was filled with fun, great food, and well-deserved recognition of several local businesses. To cap it all off, Lee Dunlap was honored for his outstanding contributions to our community. The members of the committee are to be commended for their hard work, dedication, and attention to detail in making this event such a tremendous success. Harrison’s 150th celebration is in great hands thanks to their efforts of these volunteers Mitch Magness, (chairman; from back left), Troy Massey, Mike Wood, Amanda Woodworth, Donna Braymer, Robin Reeves, Sheri Keeton, Emily Powers and Tyler Gentry. The Harrison City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in council chambers at City Hall, 118 Industrial Park Road. There is very little on the agenda at this moment, but a public hearing is scheduled (Resolution 1351) and has been advertised in the newspaper. As such, that will have to happen. The Bennett Building Dollar General's new awnings look very nice. A portion was paid for by a Main Street Matching Grant. The next cycle of grants will be announced in the next few months. Follow Main Street Harrison on Facebook to get the details as they are announced by Main Street Director Lauri Rottmayer.
You may remember that a week ago, several guns and a pickup truck were stolen from Tennessee, and a tip alerted authorities to their arrival in Harrison. The Harrison Police Department arrested the two young men and retrieved the stolen items. Sheriff Kenny Christopher of Benton County, Tennessee, asked his deputy to hand-deliver this letter of appreciation to Police Chief Chris Graddy upon their arrival in Harrison to retrieve the juveniles and stolen items. "Please extend our thanks to all the officers involved in this successful operation."
The new signal lights have been delivered and are awaiting installation by the out-of-town subcontractor. Just a little bit longer!
