CodeRED update
As we’ve seen on the news, a disaster happened in the South Texas Hill Country. The questions have been asked where the warnings were and who is to blame.
This is a devastating event for families and communities, but playing the blame game is not going to bring one precious life back.
What would Harrison do if we knew a dangerous flash flood had been issued by the Weather Service?
The fire department is trained and equipped to issue an alert immediately. Before an alert goes out, no one needs to receive “permission.” There are actually five names on the list, and any one of these individuals can issue an immediate warning.
“If the weather allows, we want to test the CodeRED system again at noon on Tuesday, July 15,” Fire Chief Marc Lowery said.
Residents within the city limits can receive a warning by email, text, or phone. If you do not receive a test alert on Tuesday, call the office at 870-204-5688.
