In honor of Flag Day, June 14, the American Legion will host a flag lowering ceremony at the flag pole of City Hall on June 13 at 5 p.m. The symbolism and meaning of the 13-fold pattern will be explained. Friday: Assembly at 5 p.m., Flag lowering at 5:15. Saturday, June 14, Assembly at 7:30, Flag raising at 7:45 a.m.

Harrison Parks worked on replacing some old fencing that will frame the Creekside Amp area in preparation for the first concert to be held Friday, June 27. The gate opens at 5 p.m., and the concert begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at CreeksideAmp.com Performing that night will be Tyler Farr, Sadie Bass, and opening act, Chris Luneau The White Buffalo.

The Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting with Three Wishes for Ruby's Residents at the temporary location while their building is being renovated.

PUBLIC NOTICE: A subcommittee of the Harrison Planning Commission will meet in a work session at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the Public Works Office, 303 North 3rd Street. The subcommittee consists of commission chairman Pat Brown and commissioners David O'Neal and Jeff Pratt. The subcommittee is set to discuss recent changes in Arkansas law and changes that will likely need to be made to the city code in response. The meeting is open to the public.

As part of the Downtown Beautification Project, the city added some planters to the east side of the square. The city will add rock and dirt, and the Master Gardeners have agreed to fill them with beautiful plants.

Drive slow and safely on Goblin Drive this summer. Utility companies have contracted with teams to move the utility lines ahead of widening Goblin Drive and adding sidewalks.

It's not too late to sign up for this week's STEM class at Creekside hosted by Christie Toland and Freedom Education Services. Next week's classes are almost at capacity, but still some space available. Since this week has already started, if someone wants to start on Tuesday, the fee will be discounted. Hendrix College instructor/recruiter Jordan Toland has 47 students receiving scholarships next year for the Conway liberal arts college.
