PUBLIC NOTICE: A subcommittee of the Harrison Planning Commission will meet in a work session at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the Public Works Office, 303 North 3rd Street. The subcommittee consists of commission chairman Pat Brown and commissioners David O'Neal and Jeff Pratt. The subcommittee is set to discuss recent changes in Arkansas law and changes that will likely need to be made to the city code in response. The meeting is open to the public.

As part of the Downtown Beautification Project, the city added some planters to the east side of the square. The city will add rock and dirt, and the Master Gardeners have agreed to fill them with beautiful plants.

Drive slow and safely on Goblin Drive this summer. Utility companies have contracted with teams to move the utility lines ahead of widening Goblin Drive and adding sidewalks.

It's not too late to sign up for this week's STEM class at Creekside hosted by Christie Toland and Freedom Education Services. Next week's classes are almost at capacity, but still some space available. Since this week has already started, if someone wants to start on Tuesday, the fee will be discounted. Hendrix College instructor/recruiter Jordan Toland has 47 students receiving scholarships next year for the Conway liberal arts college.

The first swim meet at Creekside Aquatics has been very successful! Even with the stormy weather, the meet only started five minutes late! Welcome to Harrison, and congratulations to all the swimmers! For results and how you can join the swim team see the Harrison Rapids Facebook page.

The Harrison Fire Department has removed the high water gates that protect drivers from the potential flood waters of the Dry Jordan. Thank you guys!

Utility work continues on the Goblin Drive project. Entergy and Waylon Wright from Black Hills Energy have been working this week to move lines to widen the street and add sidewalks.

The public is invited to a swim meet at Creekside on Saturday, June 7. The events begin at 9 a.m. and are free to the public. There is a viewing area in the Aquatics Center and the Arvest Bank room. Come see a swim meet in action and, of course, cheer on the Harrison swimmers!

A little more basketball! Students and parents were very excited for the Razorbacks to be in Harrison!

Razorback Coach John Calipari hosted a Basketball Camp at Goblin Arena. Almost 90 kids signed up to work with Razorback players.
