A grateful tourist from Alabama sent this note to Mayor Jackson and Police Chief Graddy.

Dear Sir,

On the evening of 16 March 2026 at roughly 6:15 pm, my rental car broke down in your city. As I sat there stuck in the right-hand lane on a four-lane highway, 1/2 way through a curve, it was somewhat unnerving. As I got out to try and warn people, a gentleman in a large Ford pickup showed up and helped me to get the car across the street to some truck sales parking lot. Here is where the fun began.

I called the rental company repeatedly to get a tow truck and Uber or something to get me and the car up the road to Branson where I was staying the night. After three hours of them not being able to help, telling me to just leave the car with the keys in the glove box. I guess getting to Branson was my problem.
I called the local police department and explained my situation to the young lady who answered your non-emergency line. At this point, I assumed I would be sleeping in the lobby of the police station. She shared that she would have a cruiser come by a couple of times to check on me until I got something figured out. After three hours, I took the situation into my own hands, knowing there had to be a tow truck somewhere nearby. The young lady had CPL Baily call me. He said he would be happy to come pick me up and take me to the Holiday Inn Express if need be. I asked him for a number for a tow truck company. He shared that he could not recommend one (conflict of interest)? He shared how to Google tow services and the first one that popped up may be a good choice. I did and Shazam. Great MTN towing was there within 15 minutes. Put the car on Jer-Dan and took me and the car to Branson.

I was extremely grateful for how well your whole town treated the situation and how helpful they were!!

If I am ever passing through Harrison again, I will make it a point to eat, get gas, and spend whatever money I need to there.

Police Chief Chris Graddy replied, “I’m glad we were able to help.”
